Plant based recipe with Jansen Andre
ENJO: You reached out to us and we were thrilled. What drew you to partner with ENJO?
JA: I reached out to ENJO because I was super excited to hear that there was a cleaning brand that uses NO CHEMICALS at all whatsoever. I select products that are not harmful to the environment and want to make sure I do the same around the kitchen when cleaning.
ENJO: What are some tips for living a healthy, active lifestyle?
JA: To live a healthy active lifestyle, it’s not all about the fitness, but also accompanying the mind and soul. Mental health is a huge one for me. If you don’t have your mind right then you can’t do anything, no matter how fit you are. So important to check in with yourself daily, weekly as we live in such a fast pace world and sometimes don’t think about much, other than the task at hand.


ENJO: What made you embrace a vegan lifestyle?
JA: I have been plant based for over 9 years now, for me initially it was seeing the slaughtering of a cow about 4 meters away from where I was standing in the middle of Africa. I guess from there on out I chose to live without harming anything in my life.
ENJO: And where did your journey as a chef begin?
JA: At a young age I always was in the kitchen cooking with my Mum. My journey as a chef began almost 9 years ago aswell. I couldn’t find much food when I first went plant based so I had to cook for myself. At this point I was getting very creative with what I was making. Everything from scratch, I was obsessed with it all.


ENJO: How important are issues such as food waste and ethical local sourcing?
JA: Ethical local sourcing where possible is important so that the ingredients haven’t travelled far to come to the plate. Using less resources the better. Food waste is such an issue in this world especially in the restaurant scene. Even in domestic living in houses, we overbuy food all of the time and end up throwing it out.
ENJO: Do you believe restauranteurs and chefs are doing enough to shake up the sector in terms of sustainability?
JA: I think we are in a fast past growing time and things are moving in the right direction with sustainability. However I also think that we have a long way to go. There are parts that are moving fast in the right way, and there are other parts that are going in the opposite direction.


ENJO: Now that you have been introduced to ENJO, what is one product you can’t live without?
JA: I honestly think I cannot live without the cloths to wipe the surfaces. The fact that they wipe up the grease and leave them super clean without any chemicals is a game changer.
ENJO: What surprised you most about the Floorcleaner?
JA: The Floorcleaner I couldn’t believe how shiny and smooth the floors became. It was so easy to use the fact that you only needed water. It was also very easy to change the heads on the stick as well. The mechanism that is on the device, and the fact that you don’t need to bend down it can all be done with just your foot.
ENJO: Lastly, can you kindly share with us a delicious recipe?
High Protein Souvlaki
INGREDIENTS
- Pita bread
- 80g protein self raising flour (vetta) can using plant flour just add 1tsp bicarbonate soda
- 60g coconut yogurt
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- Salt
- No Beef strips
- 1 tbsp Tamari
- 2 tbsp vegan mayo
- Lettuce & tomato
LET'S MAKE MAGIC HAPPEN

Combine all of your ingredients for a pita bread. Roll, kneed and flatten into your wrap.
- Pan fry your pita until golden.
- Assemble your wraps, starting with lettuce, tomato, beef.
- Close your wrap and serve!
