WA ENJO Business owner Hayley Zscherpel fills us in on her ENJO Life from how it started to where it’s heading.
Since 1994 ENJO Australia has introduced the ENJO Life to thousands of women across the country and actively empower and celebrate female achievement.
What is it like to live the ENJO Life? Let’s find out.
Hayley, tell us a little about yourself
I’m 32 years old, wife to Kai and Mum to Hugo (4 years) and Dotty (2 years). I’m originally from the UK and came to Australia to travel about 6 and a half years ago, however, I met Kai just weeks after landing and I never left (nor did I travel).
How long have you been running your ENJO Business?
I started my business over a year ago and can honestly say it’s the best decision I have made in a long time.
What was your main motivation for starting your business?
One of my girlfriends from mother’s group was holding a demo and she invited me along. I actually had no idea what ENJO was, I thought I was going to a candle party.
I was very interested in the concept of cleaning without chemicals at the demo, I purchased the Bathroom Bundle and started using it right away. I loved how the products worked and decided I needed more ENJO products in my life - and of course, I wanted them for free - so I held my own ENJO demo.
A few months later I was telling anyone and everyone who would listen about ENJO, I was so passionate about the products and how they worked. It was around this time I was invited to an ENJO Business information evening. I attended and that’s when I decided to start my own business.
Have you ever started your own business or worked independently before?
I had never done anything like this before and I was so surprised by the support provided, it was so much more than I expected. Training starts from the get-go both online and with your Senior Team Leader, even to this day the support is incredible.
I actually work a 9-5 job 3-days a week, so starting my own business was scary! I had all the ‘what if it doesn’t work?’ feelings and the main one, ‘where will I find my customers?’
I trusted the ENJO brand, I knew the products worked, I knew I needed to shout it from the rooftops! It was my ‘why’ that kept me going - my little family. So I just thought I’ve got to give it my all, stay positive and it will work out.
How has starting an ENJO Business impacted your life?
Starting my ENJO Business has changed my life in so many ways. In March 2016 I was diagnosed with severe post-natal depression and anxiety, some days I couldn’t leave the house or talk to anyone.
Something as small as popping to the shops was impossible for me, and now I run my own business standing up and talking in front of groups of people. ENJO has grown me as a person, not only am I earning an income to support my family, it has given me so much confidence and self-worth.
How did you feel running your very first ENJO demo?
I was so nervous for my first demo, especially in front of friends! I remember thinking I was going to forget everything I was supposed to say, however, once I got into the swing of the physical demo of the products, I was instantly at ease. I mean, you can’t really go wrong, it’s only water after all.
After the demo I felt a huge sense of relief, but also excitement as I couldn't wait to demo again. I also had my incredible senior team leader Leah by my side supporting me every step of the way.
What does a typical day running your ENJO Business look like?
I like to use my time effectively and even though ENJO is super flexible I have set-up a routine to maximise my time, for example, I always start my day by checking my emails and catching up with any customers who contacted me the night before (I like to get to bed early).
Once I’m caught up on my emails, I usually create or update my ‘to-do’ list – I love a good list – and I feel like this ritual helps me stay on top of my business, errands and family life as efficiently as possible.
I work my ENJO Business as a side-hustle so I wait until my lunch break to make any business-related/customer calls.
Promoting my ENJO Business via social media is very effective and I love sharing ENJO this way, so I’ll take photos and videos to post throughout the day.
I have my pre-arranged ‘demo’ days in my diary, I offer Thursday through to Sunday, however, I always make sure I have other personal events marked in my diary so I don’t double book myself!! It’s all about balance and I love all the planning and organising tools ENJO HQ provide, so if being organised isn’t your strong point, ENJO help in every way possible to make it as simple as possible.
How does ENJO fit into your lifestyle?
I have two kids under 4 years old, so I would describe my lifestyle as a bit hectic! Being able to set my own hours and book demos when I have availability is great, I feel like ENJO grounds me – it’s my ‘me’ time.
What have you found challenging and what do you do to overcome this?
I think understanding that not everyone is ready to change how they clean their homes has been my biggest challenge. I really believe ENJO is for everyone, and when people aren’t interested I’ve had to change my mindset - it’s totally fine, it’s just not the right time.
What do you consider your biggest achievement?
My biggest achievement was being ranked as the number one ENJO Business owner in Australia! This was closely followed by qualifying to go to New York and Austria with my fellow ENJO Business owners.
Do you have any tips for staying motivated?
Having passion and purpose for what you do is so important, and to always believe in yourself.
Finally, do you have any advice for anyone thinking about starting a direct selling business like ENJO?
Do it! Honestly, it’s an amazing opportunity in more ways than one.
